What is a VIN

VIN (Vehicule Identification Number) is an unique code used to identify a car. The VIN is also called chassis number or frame number. VIN must contain 17 digits (letter or number) which comply with ISO standard.

VIN can be found on several places :

  • At the corner of the dashboard where it meets the windshield on the driver 's side
  • On the Etiket sticked to the chassis on the driver 's side (near the spot where the door latches, not too far from the seatbelt return).
  • Engraved on the chassis, under the hood

What information contains a VIN

VIN provides 4 following specifications :

  • Production country
